Kerry completed her Bachelor degree in Occupational Therapy in South Africa in 1997. She subsequently moved to the UK and spent 10 years there. In 2008, with two kids and a husband in tow, she moved back to South Africa and opened a Paediatric OT clinic supporting children with various diagnoses in both school and clinic-based therapy. Finding a passion for Early Intervention, particularly with children on the Autism Spectrum, Kerry went on to complete her Sensory Integration certification and her Masters degree in Occupational Therapy. She used this knowledge to work within a transdisciplinary team with children and their families with ASD. Kerry believes wholeheartedly with the adage that children ‘learn through play” and the Floortime Level 1 training she has done is put to good use in her sessions. She has commenced her training in the Early Start Denver Model so that she can ensure she always uses research based and best practice interventions in her therapy. Kerry and her family, which has grown to include three sons, immigrated to Australia in late 2018. They have settled on the Gold Coast and she has been working at Grow On children’s OT since January 2019. She loves going to the beach with her children, long walks and reading in her hammock. Since Kerry was a ‘tomboy’ in her childhood, she recalls spending most of her time climbing trees, riding bikes and building forts and believes that outdoor play is crucial for our children’s development.
